Okay I don’t care how bad the situation or how stupid the idea is, trust me there is a idiot out there to always say “hey hold my beer and watch this”. It is not like there are more important things for the officials to be doing.

Amid the hard work along the River, rescue teams raced to the Mississippi Sunday evening to haul out a man in an inner-tube.

Right at sunset you can see a man floating near the Village of East Davenport. Someone called police after seeing him, near the I-74 bridge. A rescue boat from the arsenal finall stopped the man and hauled him out of the flood waters.

Witnesses couldn’t believe it.

“I saw this dark shape kind of moving down and I thought that’s a guy in an inner-tube and then he waved and I thought yep, that’s a guy in an innertube. I could pick a lot better place I’d rather go tubin’ than on the Mississippi River in flood stage.” said Tom Barnum while he looked on.

The Rock Island Arsenal and The Moline Fire Departments both launched rescue boats. Police spotters were also staged at the I-74 and Government Bridges.

Eric Cramer, with the Arsenal says the man is in his late 20’s, and may have been drinking.

They allowed him to call a friend to be picked up.
